Flash Sites Can Be Indexed

Flash Can Now Bring In Higher Search Traffic From Google
Google has been developing the Flash indexing algorithm by integrating Adobe's Flash Player technology. This new algorithm will be used to index textual content in Flash files of all kinds, from Flash menus, buttons and banners, to self-contained Flash websites.

In the past, website with flash content has to be presented in another way to the robots, in order to ensure that its content can be indexed by the search engines. However with Google's new algorithm, webmasters can now expect higher visibility of their published Flash content which will help to bring in more search traffic. Now the question is How Does It Increases Your Conversions?

I have to agree that websites with Flash content are naturally more appealing in its look when compared with the static ones. Google may now be able to index and crawl your Flash content, but does it mean that your Flash content is able to convert incoming visitors into sales, subscriptions or leads?

We must understand the point that every single visitor that comes into your website via the search engines is an opportunity because your website does provide them with what they are looking for (Most likely). With that in mind, it is quite clear that the traffic is only a source, your website is the platform and your content is the tool that can convert.

Time Is Crucial
You may have the most appealing Flash website that delivers the WOW factor, but it will still mean nothing if the loading and waiting time exceeds your visitors' expectation. Analyze your website's bounce rate, what is the percentage of your visitors leaving upon reaching your website's hompage or internal pages?

Content Is KING
Your Flash website may be COOL, but if its content fails to attract attention, build interests, create a desire to buy, and provide calls to action, then you are simply wasting everybody's time. Can you imagine buying a Ferrari, parking it in your garage and never drive it?

This post is definitely not encouraging you to drop the idea of designing a Flash based website, I personally have seen Flash sites that delivers the conversion momentum, however it is rare. You must always bear in mind that Flash is only a powerful tool if it is used properly.
