Today i will start sharing Part One - Onpage Optimization Tags which i believed to be one of the most important factors (not in order of importance) affecting SERPs rankings of websites and by following these updated SEO guidelines, your website will at least stand a much better chance in over ranking its competitors.
Based on my experiences, i will be including important points to take note for each individual SEO factors which many websites have failed to ensure. If you're READY, let's READ ON.
|
1) Title Tag This is a single line of statement shown in the SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages) which acts as a headline for grabbing attention and is commonly used in the ranking of that particular webpage. After analyzing a collection of targeted keywords, the Title tag should be written with the most important keywords in mind. Eg. Singapore SEO Consultant | Internet Marketing and Web Design Company.
Important Points To Note : 1) Each page within your website MUST HAVE its own unique TITLE tag. 2) Important keywords SHOULD BE included within the TITLE tag. 3) Ensure that the TITLE tag DOES NOT contain any typo or spelling errors. 4) TITLE tag SHOULD NOT contain more than 65 characters. Anything more will be represented with "..." 5) If POSSIBLE, do not include your company name within the TITLE tag. This increases the amount of keyword phrases that can be ranked. 6) TITLE tag SHOULD be easy to read and informative. DO NOT STUFF your TITLE tag with keywords.
2) Description Meta Tag This is a paragraph that will be displayed to searchers in the SERPs and it should best describes that PARTICULAR webpage. Without the use of a DESCRIPTION tag, the search engine will randomly display text on the page that surrounds the query term which normally does not best describes the page.
Important Points To Note : 1) Each page within your website MUST HAVE its own UNIQUE DESCRIPTION tag. 2) As much as possible, try to include important keywords within the DESCRIPTION tag. 3) DO NOT stuff the DESCRIPTION tag with only KEYWORDS. 4) DESCRIPTION tag should be captivating, attract click-throughs while delivering SEO value in ranking. 5) Ensure that the DESCRIPTION tag DOES NOT contain any typo, spelling or grammar errors. 6) DESCRIPTION tag should not contain more than 150 characters. Anything more will be represented with "..."
3) Keywords Meta Tag The importance of KEYWORDS tag has been constantly debated within our SEO community and it has been said to have lost its importance in major search engines over the past years. Nevertheless, it does not harm your website by including it within the webpage.
Important Points To Take Note : 1) AVOID stuffing the KEYWORDS tag with too many keywords. Limit to 8 or less keywords per page. 2) Use relevant keywords that describes the content of the particular webpage.
4) Image ALT Tag This tag is used to describe an image to the search engine robots as well as used to display alternate information to the searchers when the browser is incapable of displaying the image. Image ALT tag is also recommended for displaying alternate information about the image to our blind community which assists them in better understanding the webpages.
Important Points To Take Note : 1) AVOID stuffing the IMAGE ALT tag with keywords. 2) Use relevant phrase that describes the image.
5) Link Title Tag This is used in describing a particular link with an additional Link TITLE tag. Although anchor text is already sufficient enough to describe an external link, it does not harm the website by providing additional information about a link.
Important Points To Take Note : 1) AVOID stuffing the LINK TITLE tag with keywords. 2) Use relevant phrase that describes the link. Limit the phrase to less than 4 words.
6) Header Tags H1, H2, H3 and H4 tags are commonly used to highlight the headline of a topic. Text on a page will be given more weight by the search engines when used with a HEADER tag and surrounding text will also benefit from the effect.
Important Points To Take Note : 1) AVOID using too many HEADER tags on a single webpage. 2) DO NOT perform KEYWORDS STUFFING with the use of HEADER TAGS.
I believed i have covered most of the Onpage Optimization Tags in this post, try working on these guidelines and you will notice better performance in your website. I will be sharing more guidelines on external factors affecting Search Engine Optimization on my next post : Search Engine Optimization Guide Part Two, so stay tuned to our blog.
