BOTW To Purchase DMOZ From AOLPosted on : 17-09-2008 at 0327 hrsAuthor : Rif Chia |
Jeremy Schoemaker from the popular blog ShoeMoney posted that Best Of The Web Directory is currently in talks to purchase DMOZ Directory from AOL and a deal could be reached fairly soon. Although this blog post by Jeremy Schoemaker is a still a rumour, it still got me thinking how a successful buyover of DMOZ would change the way Google looks at DMOZ.ORG directory authority as well as the existing benefits of listing a website in DMOZ directory.
Over the years, Google has made themselves clear that they DO NOT like buying and selling of links within websites, especially directories and has since punished a number of directories which used to be powerful in their golden days. With this in mind, will DMOZ still be a powerful directory in the future or will they suffered the same fate as many directories? Let's hear what you got to say.
